Race report
Kathrin Hammes is the first rider to open up a gap, which she widens to 2 minutes. The peloton brings her back halfway through the race.
Julie van de Velde strikes on the Côte des Andrieux to take maximum KOM points at the top, which she repeats on the Côte de Saint-Robert. The Belgian ITT specialist pushes on to open up a lead of over 2 minutes.
Van de Velde enters the last 3 kilometers with a 30 seconds lead, but it’s not enough and the peloton brings her back inside the last 300 metres.
Yellow jersey Lotte Kopeckey leads out Lorena Wiebes, who powers to a commanding victory ahead of Marianne Vos. Kopecky finishes in third to cement her lead on GC. Not only does she take a time bonus of 4 seconds, a split in the peloton gives her another 2 seconds extra.
