We can look forward to hilly races with a pivotal role for the Wall of Kigali, a cobbled climb of 400 metres with an average gradient of 10.8%. It’s going to be the first World Cycling Championships in an African country. (Slideshow route/profile)

The reigning champions are Tadej Pogacar and Lotte Kopecky (road races), Remco Evenepoel and Grace Brown (ITT), and Australia (mixed relay).

Wednesday, 24 September - The World Championships mixed relay will be contested on a 42.4-kilometre course with 740 metres of elevation gain. The men and women complete an identical 21.2-kilometre lap.

World Championships road race
Saturday, 27 September - The women's road race at the World Championships in Rwanda is played out on a local circuit of 14.9 kilometres, which the riders take on eleven times. Each lap includes 304 metres of climbing, bringing the total elevation gain to 3,350 metres. The 164.6-kilometre route is situated at an altitude of 1,500 metres above sea level.

World Championships road race
Sunday, 28 September – The road race et the Worls in Rwanda starts and finishes in Kigali. The riders take on an acumulated elevation of 5,500 metres over a 267.5-kilometre course. The finish line is located just after the top of a cobbled climb of 1.3 kilometres at 6.3%. The race is played at 1,500 metres above sea level.
