World Cycling Championships 2020 Martigny: Route ITT - men
Sunday 20 September - The time trial for men at the Worlds in Martigny is played out on a 46 kilometres route. Despite the mountainous surroundings the elevation gain is limited to 238 metres. All climbs are situated in the first part of the route.
This information is outdated, check the itt in Imola.
The riders roll down the start ramp in Aigle to follow the Rhône upstream. The route is rolling gently until a short and sharp climb into Lavey-Village breaks the rhythm. The inclination is 600 metres long and slopes at 10%.
Shortly after the descent to the Rhône the route continues uphill on the other side of the river. This hill is less steep, but longer. It rises with 210 meters for 3 kilometres, so the average gradient sits at 7%.
After crossing the Saint-Barthélemy torrent the route descends into Evionnaz for the last 30 kilometres on predominantly flat terrain.
Rohan Dennis won the World Championships two years in a row. Young Remco Evenepoel and Filippo Ganna rounded out the podium last year.
The first rider sets off at 13.10 and the last starter, title defender Dennis, is expected to finish around 15.30 – both are local times.
