Race results
Idoia Eraso and Nora Jencusova are the first attackers of the day. While Eraso can’t follow the pace, Valerie Demey jumps clear from the peloton. She overhauls the Basque rider and continues in pursuit of Jencusova. But instead, all attackers are reeled in.
Moments later, after 22 kilometres, the peloton splits. Red jersey Blanka Vas is in the front group, as are Niahn Fisher-Black, Mischa Bredewold, Elena Cecchini, Marlen Reusser, Demi Vollering, Elisa Longo Borghini, Kasia Niewiadoma, Maike van der Duin, Erica Magnaldi, Juliette Labous, Marianne Vos, Riejanne Markus, Sophie von Berswordt, Georgia Baker, Silke Smulders, Kristen Faulkner, Alison Jackson and Sheyla Gutiérrez. So, Gaia Realini, Lizzie Deignan, Mavi García, Évita Muzic, Lian Lippert and Ricarda Bauernfeind are among the riders who missed the decisve move.
The gap between the first two groups goes out to 2 minutes. The chasers come back to 40 seconds before the difference grows back to 1.30 minutes.
Marianne Vos wis the intermediate sprint to gain 6 seconds. Blanka Vas takes 4, while Elisa Longo Borghini crosses the line in third to take the remaining 2 seconds.
Kristen Faulkner attacks just before a short ramp inside the last 7 kilometres. She opens a small gap ahead of Demi Vollering, Blanka Vas, Elisa Longo Borghini, and Kasia Niewiadoma. The gap goes out as the four do not cooperate well, and the others rejoin them.
Kristen Faulkner solos to triumph before Georgia Baker outsprints Marianne Vos for second place. The Dutch Grande Dame moves into the overall race lead, as Blanka Vas drops back to second place.
