Vuelta Femenina 2024 Route stage 3: Lucena - Teruel

Although the route includes only one KOM climb, it’s unthinkable that the race will boil down to a bunch sprint. The terrain that the riders are traversing is much too rugged. Attrtion, thats the key word in the 3rd stage of the Vuelta for women.

Early in the race, the riders crest a 4.7 kilometers climb at 4.1% before descending to Argelita. On undulating but slightly rising roads, they continue their journey to the foot of the Alto Fuente de Rubielos.

The summit of the 6.1 kilometres climb at 6.2% is crested after 69.1 kilometres in the saddle. The Alto Fuente de Rubielos peaks at an elevation of 1,003 metres and there is no downhill to look foward to. insetad, the riders stay at altitide for the rest of the day. In fact, following 50 kilometres on uohill rolling roads, they reach the highest point of the stage at 1,219 metres. There are still 18 kilometres of racing left at this point.

The finale is a gradual descent into Teruel.

The first three riders on the line gain times bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
