The opening takes place on undulating terrain and then, after 42 kilometres in the saddle, the first mountain of La Vuelta Femenina materialises. The Puerto de Navafría is an ascent of 11.5 kilometres with an average gradient of 5.8%. The steepest section – at 13% – appears halfway up the climb. But on the whole, the Puerto de Navafría is a rather steady climb.
A 10 kilometres descent leads to Navafría before the race continues on flat to rolling terrain.
The riders start to climb at shallow gradients in the 20 last kilometres. After a short downhill they move through Riaza and tackle the finish climb. It’s a 5 kilometres drag at 6.7% to viewpoint Mirador de Peñas Llanas. The first 250 metres are the hardest part with a gradient of almost 10%, while another 250 metres at 9.1% appears inside the final 2 kilometres.
The riders pass the flamme rouge on a false flat sector before the last 500 metres throws in a tricky final note at 7.4%.
The intermediate sprint comes with time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds, while the first three riders on the line gain 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
