Vuelta 2025 Route stage 2: Alba - Limone Piemonte

Vuelta a España 2025Sunday, 24 August - Stage 2 of La Vuelta takes the riders over flat terrain to an uphill finish. The race between Alba and Limone Piemonte covers a distance of 157 kilometres.

In 2020, the Giro d’Italia visited Alba as the starting point for a race to Sestriere. It was the penultimate stage, during which Wilco Kelderman lost the pink jersey to Tao Geoghegan Hart, who went on to claim overall victory the following day.

This time, the race from Alba is unlikely to unfold as dramatically. Not only is it still early in the Vuelta, the course is also far less demanding. The riders travel over flat and occasionally slightly rising roads towards Limone Piemonte. That’s where the only challenge of the day begins.

After passing through the Alpine town, the climb to the Limone 1400 ski resort spans 7.6 kilometres with an average gradient of 5.4%.

In the 2002 Giro d’Italia, Stefano Garzelli celebrated in Limone 1400. The Italian outsprinted Santiago Pérez, Gilberto Simoni, and Francesco Casagrande.
