Raceverslag
Kasper Asgreen is the first attacker, and Enzo Leijnse joins him. Jay Vine, Marco Frigo, and Harold Tejada take their place at the front in the run-up to the Estacas de Trueba ascent. Marc Soler, Pablo Castrillo, Clément Berthet, Sylvain Moniquet, Carlos Canal, Jack Haig, Enzo Leijnse, and Thomas Champion also make it across.

Leijnse waits for his team mate Max Poole before the two are swallowed by the peloton.

Vine wins the KOM sprint at Las Estacas de Trueba, and also at the Puerto de la Braguía. The peloton trails at 6 minutes at the Braguía.

The gap falls below 4 minutes on the Alto del Caracol, which inspires Soler to attack. Berthet goes with him, while Vine bridges across before the summit to take the KOM points.

The leaders regroup before the trio repeats the move on the Portillo de Lunada. Soler heads out alone with 9 kilometres to climb, while Frigo and Castrillo rejoin the other two 6 kilometres later. Soler reaches the Lunada summit half a minute ahead of the four chasers before it comes together in the valley.

Soler attacks again at the base of the Portillo de la Sia. He reaches the summit 42 seconds ahead of Vine, and they are now level on points in the KOM competition.

A new regroupment takes place in the valley before both Soler and Castrillo loses contact on the early slopes of the Puerto de Los Tornos.

With just under 7 kilometres to the summit, the GC contenders – with the exception of Mattias Skjelmose and Carlos Rodriguez – catch the last breakaway riders, Vine and Berthet.

While Skjelmose regains contact, it is Pavel Sivakov who attacks from the GC group. The Frenchman is the first to reach the summit. Vine crosses the top in fourth place, securing his overall victory in the mountains classification.

Sivakov tackles the Picón Blanco 1 minute ahead of the red jersey group, while Eddie Dunbar attacks from the GC group with 5 kilometres to climb. The Irishman catches Sivakov 1.5 kilometres later.

Urko Berrade and David Gaudu open the chase as well. Meanwhile, Dunbar drops Sivakov, and Primoz Roglic, Enric Mas and Richard Carapaz rejoin Gaudu. Ben O’Connor and Felix Gall also make it back within the final kilometre.

Mas drops his rivals in the final phase, but it’s too late to threaten Dunbar’s triumph. Roglic finishes 3 seconds behind Mas and retains the lead in the GC.
