Vuelta 2024 Favourites stage 21: For ITT specialists, or Roglic

Brandon McNulty - Vuelta 2024 Favourites stage 21:foto: Cor VosA Grand Tour finishing with an ITT can be really exciting, but also pretty boring. Luckily, there’s always the battle for the stage win. Apart from a twisty opening section, the course is made for high speeds. (Slideshow route/profile)

With barely 500 metres of climbing, it’s safe to say that the time trial to Madrid pretty flat. Or maybe ‘gently rolling’ is a better way to put it. After the first checkpoint, around kilometre 9, comes the ‘toughest section’. The road kicks up at around 3% for 500 metres.

The contenders are basically the same as on day one, since the course is similar. Though, the stage 1 time trial was half the distance and even flatter. The Madrid time trial is 24.6 kilometres long.

Who’s motivated to go all out one more time?
