Race report
Three riders attack straight away. Pelayo Sanchez, Oier Laskano and Xabier Mikel Azparren carve out a lead of more than 7 minutes before the peloton takes the reins.

Laskano is the last attacker to be reeled in with 15 kilometres to go.

A huge crash takes down half the peloton 3 kilometres later. Only about 30 riders remain at the front, while red jersey Taaramäe is caught behind. As is Bardet.

A lot of riders make it back to the first group before Philipsen wins the bunch sprint ahead of Jakobsen and Dainese.

Taaramäe crosses the line more than 2 minutes later and Elissonde takes his place as race leader.
