Race report
After 30 kilometres of hard racing Edward Planckaert, Jonathan Lastra, Magnus Cort, Joan Bou and Harm Vanhoucke open up a gap of 2 minutes before it stabilises.
The gap has fallen below 1 minute when Cort heads out alone on the Puerto de Locubín. David de la Cruz tries to bridge across inside the last 2 kilometres, but to no avail. Cort reaches the summit with a lead of 20 seconds, which he extends slighly in the descent.
The Dane is caught in the last few hundred metres of the Wall in Valdepeñas de Jaén by Mas and Roglic. The Slovene leaves the Spaniard behind when he opens the sprint and wins 3 seconds plus the times bonus.
Red jersey Eiking finishes in tenth, 11 seconds down on Roglic, to keep La Roja.
