Race report
Martin Salmon attacks from the gun and Jonas Vingegaard, Mattia Cattaneo, Rui Costa, Robert Power, Michael Storer, Omar Fraile, Romain Seigle, Will Barta, Stan Dewulf, Guillaume Martin, Fernando Barcelo, Alex Edmondson and Pim Ligthart join him.
The peloton keeps chasing and tracks the attackers down at kilometre 69. Then Rémi Cavagna and Andrey Amador give it a go before Magnus Cort and Stan Dewulf rejoin them. To no avail. More attacks follow until the successful move happens with 90 kilometres remaining.
Tim Wellens, Sepp Kuss, Robert Power, Thymen Arensman, Mark Donovan, Callum Scotson, Fred Wright, Jefferson Cepeda, Andrea Bagioli, Guillaume Martin, Nelson Oliveira and Matteo Badilati are the attackers.
Wellens and Arensman head out together and Martin rejoins them in the Alto de Vio climb. The trio widens the gap to more than 4.30 minutes before it falls below 3 minutes on the last climb.
Wellens wins the uphill sprint ahead of Martin and the young Dutchman, while a crash in the last kilometre splits the peloton. Roglic is ahead of the chaos and sprints to fourth place to extend the GC lead.
