The route is tailor-made for breakaway artists. Once the flag is dropped the road goes up and continues to do so after the village Noguerelas. The first 12 kilometres rise at approximately 5%, while the ascent kicks it up a notch after moving through the village. All in all, this is the perfect launch pad for a successful early attack.
Yet, as the seats in the break are likely to be very popular on stage 6, more attacks could be imminent. New chances appear near the village Linares, which is another uphill sector of 6 kilometres at 8%. The climb peaks out after 36.5 kilometres and then the route runs predominantly downhill. Which will make it harder to get away.
The riders tackle two moderate ascents inside the last 35 kilometres. By now, the break should be firmly established. May the attacker with the best legs and the smartest moves win. The finish is uphill after a 7.9 kilometres ascent at 5%.
