Vuelta 2014 Route stage 8: Baeza – Albacete

Vuelta 2014 stage 8Saturday, August 30 – The 2014 Vuelta’s 8th stage is a flat one with some negligible bumps. In 207.0 kilometers riders head from Baeza to Albacete for a – more than likely - bunch sprint.

The bunch leaves an astounding little town with Moorish and Roman influences to head north-east in the direction of Albacete. Stage 8 is one out of 5 flat stages – that is, taking Spanish standards, because there definitely are some bumps in the landscape. Passing kilometer 139 the trail is gradually going down to the finish line.

The arrival city of Albacete, capital of the province with the same name, had a large presence in the 2003 Vuelta. Stage 12 ended in a bunch sprint in the streets of Albacete and was won by Allessandro Petacchi. The day after was an individual time trial in the same streets. Isidro Nozal won that stage and laid the foundation for his second place in the GC, just seconds from overall winner Roberto Heras. Stage 14 left from Albacete and that victory went to Petacchi as well.

The stage starts at 12:38 (CET) and the finish is expected around 17:40.
