Vuelta 2014: Favourites stage 6 - Climbers… on your mark, get set, go!

Joaquim RodriguezStage 6 and finally it's up to the climbers. The uphill finish is definitely Joaquim Rodríguez territory, with the last 4 kilometres going by a 10% grade. But not only Purito, all other GC riders will be dying to power up that Cumbres Verdes mountain. (Slideshow route/profile)

Obviously all GC men will want to show their strength, especially after the sprint stages and the TTT in the opening week op La Vuelta 2014. Of course there is always the chance of a break away to make it till the end, but odds are on Froome, Quintana, Contador, Purito et all are to take the bull by the horns and with a closing section like today’s we are up for brute spectacle.

And what about Thibaut Pinot? Third in recent La Grande Boucle he is underperforming in Spain – with an eye an stage wins like today? We’ll know at Cumbres Verdes.
