Race report
KOM leader Danny van der Tuuk attacks from the start alongside Diego Uriarte and Calum Johnston. The trio opens up a 4-minute lead.
On the Coll Puig del Pení, the gap drops below 1 minute, but Van der Tuuk does not hae to worry and he wins the KOM sprint at the summit. By that time, the gap has widened back to 2 minutes.
On the Coll de Sant Pere de Rodes, the peloton, led by Visma | Lease a Bike and Alpecin-Deceuninck, increases the pace again. Johnston drops from the breakaway, while Mario Aparicio jumps across to the leaders. He leaves them behind to take most KOM points at the top.
The peloton is bunched again at the end of the descent, and it remains bunched towards finishing venue Figueres, while Juan Ayuso bags 3 seconds in the intermediate sprnt in Garriguella.
In the ensuing bunch sprint in Figueres, it is Ethan Vernon who edges out Matthew Brennan or the win. Kaden Groves comes home in third position, so Brennan extends his GC lead by 2 bonus seconds.
