The course of the Sant Feliu de Guíxols stage varies each year, but the DNA remains unchanged. Which makes sense, as the finale is too good to neglect.
This year’s route features two loops with several intermediate climbs. The initial loop includes climbs up the Alt de Santa Pellaia (5.9 kilometres at 4%) and Alt de la Ganga (3.5 kilometres at 4.1%), after which riders cross the finish line for the first time just past the halfway mark. In the second lap, they face additional climbs measuring 5.8 kilometers at 4.5%, 5.9 kilometers at 4%, and 5.8 kilometers at 4.5%. The latter comes with 9 kilometres left to race
Typically, the race culminates in an intense finale, and this year is likely to follow suit. After a technical section with lots of twists and turns and some short uphill drags, the 500-metre home straight runs uphill at approximately 5%.
Australians often found success in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Michael Matthews clinched victories there in 2019 and 2022, while Nick Schultz took the win last year. In between, in 2023, Primoz Roglic edged out Remco Evenepoel in a direct duel to claim the top spot.
The first three riders to cross the finish line bag time bonuses of 10, 6, and 4 bonus seconds, while the intermediate sprints offer 3, 2, and 1 seconds.
