Race report
Edward Planckaert attacks from the gun and Riccardo Lucca, Filippo Magli and Oier Lazkano bridge across. The peloton agrees and the gap widens to more than 5 minutes.
Lazkano decides it’s time for a one-man show with 50 kilometres to go. The gig lasts until the final 14 kilometres.
Rubio strikes with his team mate Torres inside the last 11 kilometres. Rubio pushes on alone to open up a 1 minute gap in the ensuing 5 kilometres. The gap holds for awhile untill it comes down gradually. It has been halved under the flamme rouge, which is enough for Rubio and the Colombian celebrates his first win as a professional bike rider.
Evenepoel opens the sprint of the GC group and finishes it off with a 1 second lead. With the time bonus he is now 7 seconds clear of overnight leader Plapp.
