UAE Tour 2022 Route stage 2: Hudayriyat Island – Abu Dhabi Breakwater

It’s a 10 kilometres walk from start to finish. But since the route includes a big loop southeast of the city of Abu Dhabi the route amounts to 173 kilometres.

The route is as flat as can be. On the way back to the finish the riders pass the Yas Marina Circuit, where the Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009. Last December, Max Verstappen dethroned Lewis Hamilton in this high-speed arena.

Taling about high speeds. A sprint finish is on the cards at Abu Dhabi Breakwater. Last year, Caleb Ewan powered to victory on this very same spot. It was the last stage of that editiom and Tadej Pogacar took the GC, thus succeeding Adam Yates as winner of the UAE Tour.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
