The GC battle comes down to stage 3 and 5. Both finish atop Jebel Hafeet after an entirely flat race.
The finish climb is 10.8 kilometres long and the average gradients sits at 6.6%. The ascent is not very regular though. The middle part of 4 kilometres is the most demanding section with gradients hovering between 8% and 10%. The steepest section (11%) appears with 2.8 kilometres out and then the ascent evens out. A short descent just before the line makes way for a final kick up.
Alejandro Valverde won the last two finishes on Jebel Hafeet. He outgunned Primoz Roglic and Miguel Ángel López in two-up sprints, respectively in 2019 and 2018.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while two intermediate sprints – at kilometre 150.5 and kilometre 170.5 – come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
