Race report
Txomin Juaristi, Gorka Sororrain, Eugenio Sánchez, Sinuhé Fernandez, Johan Meens, Sébastien van Poppel and José María García attack virtually from the gun. Van Poppel loses contact due to mechanical issues, while the others open up a 3 minutes gap. That’s all they get.

The last men standing – Juaristi, Fernandez, Meens and García – are swallowed by the bunch with 16 kilometres to go.

Hot favourite Jonathan Milan loses contact with the bunch on the Alto Pla de Corrals. The Italian punctures.

Filippo Zana, Aleksandr Vlasov, Matej Mohoric and Welay Hagos Berhe try to get away on descent, but to no avail. Mohoric gives it another go and this one is more successful. he opens a small gap, which he widens before he crosses the line with a 13 seconds lead. Giovanni Lonardi outguns Simone Consonni in the sprint for second place.

Alessandro Tonelli finishes safely in the bunch to retain the leader’s jersey.
