Race report
Rémi Cavagna and Mattia Cattaneo attack from the bunch on the first climb of the day. The two team mates carve out a lead of 4.30 minutes before Cattaneo is the last attacker to be reeled in inside the last 25 kilometres.

The peloton is down to 22 riders after the climbs in the last 9 kilometres. A group with Hayter is chasing, but without making the catch.

Higuita opens the ensuing sprint from far and he takes the win bike lengths ahead of Bagioli and Skjelmose. Vingegaard crosses the line in tenth position to stay in the GC lead.
