Tour of the Alps 2024 Route stage 5: Levico Terme - Levico Terme
Friday 19 April - The final stage of the Tour of the Alps both starts and finishes in Levico Terme. The 118.6 kilometres long race includes an elevation gain of 2,490 metres. The last climb, Palù del Fersina, is crested with more than 16 kilometres left to race.
The race opens with a flat to undulating loop of roughly 20 kilometres around Levico Terme. After the second finish passage, a second loop presents more challenges. It’s approximately 25 kilometres long and winds its way through the Valle dei Mocheni.
The second lap is also ridden twice and as it includes the Palù del Fersina, the climb makes a double appearance. It’s a 12.5 kilometres long test with an average gradient of 6.2%. The first part presents far more difficulties than the second – in fact, the first 5 kilometres go up at 8%.
The riders fly down to Canezza after the first ascent, only to go straight back up again. Same climb, same gradients. The riders reach the summit of the Palù del Fersina for the second time with 26 kilometres remaining.
Following the descent, a flat segment takes the riders to the Tour of the Alps’ last climb, the Valico di Tenna, which rises for 2 kilometres at 5%. The riders then fly down a 4 kilometres descent before the last 2.5 kilometres run false flat uphill.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
