Tour of Lombardy 2016: Favourites

The fifth Monument of the season is played out on a route with 4.400 vertical metres, scattered through the Alps-region between Como and Bergamo, where the torture ends with a steep cobbled climb up to the old town, Alto Bergamo, and a challenging descent to the finish line.

The 2014 edition of the Race of the Falling Leaves featured the same finale. Back then, Daniel Martin tasted the sweetness of success after a season that had turned sour until then. This year he was no so unfortunate, in fact he had a good season. Is he up for a second victory in Il Lombardia?
