Race report
Attacks are flying after the start, but nothing sticks until nine riders take off at km 10. Toms Skujiņš, Lawson Craddock, Sean Bennett, Floris De Tier, Tom-Jelte Slagter, Gregory Rast, Evan Huffman, Benoit Cosnefroy and Serghei Tvetcov race to a maximum lead of more than 5 minutes.
The front group is reeled in at the Daggett Pass before Egan Bernal strikes with 16 kms remaining. Tejay van Garderen, Geoghegan Hart and Adam Yates are chasing. Daniel Martinez hooks on along with the likes of Rafal Majka and Lauren De Plus.
Bernal is in a class of his own and he wins the overall ahead of Tejay van Garderen. Tomorrow’s parade stage is for the fast men.
