Race report
Once the flag is dropped five riders jump clear. Stijn Vandenbergh, Ruben Companioni, Tanner Putt, Fabian Lienhard and Michael Rice race to a maximum lead of more than 3 minutes.
Both Cavendish and Kittel have a mechanic problem in the last kms, although Cav makes it back to the bunch. A little later, with 2 kms to go, Vandenbergh, Putt and Lienhard are the last attackers to be reeled in.
In the ensuing sprint once again outpowers Ewan and Sagan. It’s his second win in five days of Californian racing.
