Race report
Six men attack from the gun. Stage winner Robin Carpenter, Ben Healy, Michal Paluta, Jokin Murguialday, William Bjergfelt and Thomas Gloag open up a gap of almost 4 minutes before Jumbo-Visma and Deceuninck-QuickStep take the reins in the peloton. Bjergfelt can’t follow the pace and drops back in the first hour.
The attackers are brought back with 4.5 kilometres remaining.
Wout van Aert powers to a double triumph in the ensuing bunch sprint. He wins the stage and also takes the overall with a time bonus of 10 seconds. Ethan Hayter finishes eleventh, so he does not gain any seconds and he winds up on the second place overall.
