Tour Down Under 2025 Route stage 2: Tanuna - Tanunda

Tour Down Under 2025Wednesday 22 January - The Barossa Valley hosts the 2nd stage on the Tour Down Under. At 128.8 kilometres and featuring 1,598 metres of climbing, the race is likely to see a sprint finish in Tanunda. The race is made up of two identical laps and one shorter version of the same lap.

Last year’s Tanunda stage was almost the same, although it featured three times the bigger lap. This time the last lap is shortened, as the riders head in a straight line from Nutriootpa to the finish line.

Menglers Hill appears in all three laps. It is a moderate ascent of 3.8 kilometres at 3.6%, but with a section up to 13%. There are mountain points available at the summit on all three occassions.

Last year, Sam Welsford powered to victory in Tanunda. Taking his first of three stage wins, he outgunned Phil Bauhaus and Biniam Girmay.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while two intermediate sprints – both in Greenock – come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.

The 2nd stage of the Tour Down Under starts at 11:10 and the race is expected to finish around 14:23 – both are local times.
