Race results
Elena Pirrone is the first attacker. Michaela Drummond joins her and together they set sail for the first climb of the day, Côte de Hotte. The two are caugt just after the Hotte’s summit.
Attacks keep flying with the likes of Loes Adegeest, Marthe Truyen, Olivia Baril, and Lily Williams all giving it a go.
Wilma Aintila is next to try. Amandine Fouquenet bridges across with the first attacker of the day, Elena Pirrone. That break is history on the Côte de Saint-Pancré, while Puck Pieterse cements her QOM lead at the summit.
Then Loes Adegeest goes again. Fem van Empel and Julie Van de Velde track her down after the Côte de Fermont. The three open up a gap of almost 3 minutes.
The gap falls to 20 seconds on the last climb, the Côte de Montois-la-Montagne.
Yellow jersey Demi Vollering is one of the riders who hits the deck with 6 kilometres to go. It takes her a minute to remount her bike.
Meanwhile, the race charges on as Adegeest attacks from the breakaway. With 2.7 kilometres to go, she is caught by a group including Blanka Vas, Kasia Niewiadoma, Chloé Dygert, Lucinda Brand, Cédrine Kerbaol, Kristen Faulkner, Liane Lippert, and Emma Norsgaard.
Faulkner accelerates just after the flamme rouge. Norsgaard also tries to go clear, but it’s in vain. Lippert is the first to gain a gap by launching her sprint early, yet she is overtaken on the uphill finish, first by Niewiadoma and then by Vas. The Hungarian rider takes the stage win, while the Polish rider claims the yellow jersey.
Vollering crosses the line with a 1.47 minutes deficit and drops to ninth place in the general classification.
