Tour de France 2025 Route stage 14: Pau - Superbagnères

Tour de France 2025Saturday, 19 July – The riders conquer nearly 5,000 metres of elevation over 183 kilometres in the 14th stage of the Tour de France. Following passages over the Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin and Col de Peyresourde the finish climb leads to the ski resort of Superbagnères.

The first 70 kilometres are an easy-going run-up to Luz-Saint-Sauveur, where the climbing begins on the dreaded Col du Tourmalet. It’s a 19-kilometre toil with an average gradient of 7.4%. The Souvenir Jacques Goddet is up for grabs at the summit of the Pyrenean giant, that makes its 89th appearance in the Tour de France.

The riders dive down to Sainte-Marie-de-Campin, only to go straight back up again. This time on the Col d’Aspin, which is just a little gnome compared to the Tourmalet: 5 kilometres at 7.6%.

The downhill leads the riders to Arreau, and from there they enter a 10-kilometre false flat to Anéran, at the foot of the Col de Peyresourde. The 7.1-kilometre climb serves up an average gradient of 7.8%.

The climbers’ festival wraps up in the ski resort of Luchon, Superbagnères, which hasn’t hosted the Tour in 36 years. Back then, Robert Millar, who lives as Philippa York since 2017, was the best.

Alongside Millar, Greg LeMond (1986), Bernard Hinault (1979), and Federico Bahamontes (1962) have also taken wins in Superbagnères.
