Tour de France 2025 Route stage 13: Loudenvielle - Peyragudes

Tour de France 2025Friday, 18 July – An individual time trial of 11 kilometres takes the riders from the valley floor up to the runway of Altiport 007 in Peyragudes. After a flat start, the soloists face 8 kilometres of uphill torture at 7.8%, while the last kilometre ramps up at an unforgiving 13%.

Starting in Loudenvielle, the riders ‘enjoy’ 3 kilometres of flatness before hitting the climb up to Peyragudes. Three editions ago, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard battled it out on the exact same slopes, with the Slovenian coming out on top. We’re set for another fascinating showdown this time, but it won’t be shoulder to shoulder. The riders take on the course one after the other.

The Tour de France finished three times before on the runway of the airport in Peyragudes, which gained earlier fame in 1997 with a scene in the James Bond-movie Tomorrow never Dies. In 2017 and 2014 Romain Bardet and Alejandro Valverde took the stage win, although the approach was different both times.

During the Pogacar/Vingegaard clash of 2022, the climb was exactly the same as this time. That means 8 kilometres of ascending at an average gradient of 7.8%, but the last 2.5 kilometres add the most fire to the mix. The section at the runway is especially brutal with a 13% gradient and even a stretch at 16%.
