Race report
Echelons split the peloton after 10 kilometres of action. Another 10 kilometres later the bunch is complete again.

All together after 30 kilometres of action. Then Wout van Aert activates the turbo engines, and Tobias Halland Johannessen, Harold Tejada and Jarrad Drizners follow his move. Their effort ends with 142 kilometres remaining

Attacks keep flying until Tiesj Benoot, Romain Grégoire, Magnus Cort, and Bob Jungels open up a gap 20 kilometres later. It doesn’t exactly quiet down behind them. Following of chase of tens of kilometres a huge group rides away from the peloton after the intermediate sprint

The chasers tackle the Col Bayard almost 2 minutes behind the leaders. Upon reaching the summit, Guillaume Martin and Valentin Madouas are the chasers at 30 seconds. The likes Wout van Aert, Christophe Laporte, Wout Poels, Pavel Sivakov, Geraint Thomas, Enric Mas, Stephen Williams, Simon Yates, Richard Carapaz, Romain Bardet, Michael Matthews, Oscar Onley, Warren Barguil, Jan Hirt, Laurens De Plus, and Louis Meintjes are 30 seconds further down.

Martin and Madouas catch up with the leaders at the foot of the Col du Noyer, while Yates sets off from the chasing group. He overhauls the six with 5.7 kilometres left to climb. Carapaz and Williams copy-paste Yates’ recipe.

The Olympic Champion shakes off the Welshman to rejoin Yates 3.1 kilometres from the summit. Carapaz continues on his own with 2 kilometres to climb and he reaches the summit with a 12 seconds lead.

Carapaz extends his lead on the descent. Meanwhile, Pogacar attacks from the GC group on the final stretch of the Col du Noyer. Vingegaard and then Evenepoel chase after him, reaching the summit in reverse order.

While Carapaz solos to his first stage victory in the Tour de France, the Big Three regroup on the approach to the final climb. As the road starts to ascend, Evenepoel makes a move. Vingegaard is unable to respond and is distanced.

Evenepoel is the first of the Big Three to finish and gains a little ground, but Pogacar continues to dominate the Tour de France.
