Race report
Right from the start, the riders go all in. A large group including Mathieu van der Poel, Adam Yates, Matej Mohoric, Julien Bernard, Romain Grégoire, Arnaud De Lie, Michal Kwiatkowski, Rui Costa, Neilson Powless, Oier Lazkano, Magnus Cort and Jonas Abrahamsen open up a 30 seconds gap. The peloton keeps chasing for tens of kilometres.

Eventually Jonas Vingegaard, Tiesj Benoot, Matteo Jorgenson, Christophe Laporte, Wout van Aert, Tadej Pogacar, João Almeida, Remco Evenepoel, Victor Campenaerts, Stephen Williams, and Pascal Ackermann get clear from the peloton. They race in between for approximately 10 kilometres and then the peloton rejoins them. The pace remains high in both groups.

Before the midway marker Cort attacks from the lead group. Kwiatkowski, Bernard and Grégoire go with him, while the others drop back into the peloton.

The peloton splits in the crosswinds with 60 kilometres remaining, resulting in the four attackers being caught 10 kilometres later. Another 10 kilometres later, the various groups merge back together. The only sprinter who is still minutes behind is Mark Cavendish.

Richard Carapaz attacks with Tobias Halland Johannessen on the Côte de Blachon. Dylan Groenewegen is dropped from the back.

Carapaz and Johannessen open up a 30 seconds lead. After they are caught with 20 kilometres to go, Jasper Stuyven attacks. Brent Van Moer and Fabien Grellier join him. The latter loses contact. Christophe Laporte and Mathieu Burgaudeau take his place for awhile until the peloton brings them back within the last 10 kilometres.

Arnaud De Lie is taken out of the equation by a crash on the home straight.

Jasper Philipsen opens his sprint early and he has enough power to keeps pushing until the end. Wout van Aert comes close, but he has to settle for second place, while Pascal Ackermann crosses the line in third.

Tadej Pogacar stays in the lead of the general classification.
