Tour de France 2023 Route stage 19: Moirans-en-Montagne – Poligny

Tour de France 2023Friday 21 July - At 172.8 kilometres, the 19th stage of the Tour de France travels from Moirans-en-Montagne to Poligny. The elevation gain is almost 2,000 metres, while the home straight runs false flat uphill.

The riders traverse the Jura Mountains without tackling any major climbs. The route goes up or down for most of the day, but the gradients rarely exceed 5%. In fact, the Côte du Bois de Lionge (1.9 kilometres at 5.7%) and the Côte d’Ivory (2.3 kilometres at 5.9%) are the only KOM classifaction worthy uphill sections of the day. The latter is situated almost 30 kilometres from the finish.

The Tour de France never visited Poligny, so the stage winner will achieve something unique.

Also unique are the last 8 kilometres. This section runs as straight as an arrow to the finish line. The last kilometre goes up at 1.4%.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
