Race report
Roche is the first successful attacker. Van Avermaet, Herrada and Cavagna chase him down, followed by Powless, Boasson Hagen, Oss and Lutsenko. The eight attackers widen the gap to more than 6 minutes.
Almost 5 kilometres before the summit Powless and Lutsenko leave their companions behind before the Kazach goes alone with 4 kilometres to climb. Higuita loses contact in the peloton, but bounces back.
He reaches the summit 27 seconds ahead of Herrada. The main group is 3 minutes in arrears.
The Kazach extends his lead and wins the race with a comfortable margin. Herrada finishes in second, while Van Avermaet outsprints Powless for third place.
Alaphilippe wins 1 second back with a sprint to the line. Yates stays out of trouble and stays in the overall lead.
