Race report
It takes 23 kilometres for KOM-leader Wellens, Clarke, Skujins and Wurtz Schmidt to open up a gap. It widens to 2 minutes before the peloton takes the reins.

Wellens is the first rider over the Côte de Grendelbruch and Haut-Koenigsbourg.

The pure spinters lose contact with the peloton on the Côte des Trois Épis, while Skujins heads out alone in the lead group. He is the first rider at the summit with Wellens in second.

The main group overhauls Skujins on the Côte des Cinq Châteaux.

Rui Costa jumps clear with 7 kilometres remaining and he opens up a gap of 12 seconds. The former World Champion is caught 2 kilometres before the line.

Sagan is in a class of his own in the ensuing sprint. Van Aert pips Trentin for second place.

Alaphillippe finishes in tenth place to stay in the overall lead.
