Race report
Once the flag is dropped Offredo, Backaert and Schär jump clear. The trio opens up a gap of more than 3 minutes before the peloton takes them on a leash.
Offredo, who was also on the attack in stage 3, drops back into the peloton with 30 kilometres left. Schär is the last attacker to be reeled in on the last climb, Côte de Maron.
Lilian Calmejane goes solo inside the last 11 kilometres, but he is brought back 6 kilometres before the finish.
In the ensuing bunch sprint Viviani outguns Kristoff and Ewan, while Sagan sprints to fourth place.
Alaphilippe extends his overall lead.
