Race report
As soon as the riders hit the Champs-Élysées Offredo gives it a go. Daryl Impey is next and he jumps clear to race to a small gap. Vermote, Chavanel, Lutsenko, Politt, Burghardt, Erviti, Smith and Schär rejoin him. They hold off the chasing peloton for quite a while, but with two laps remaining they are caught.
Gruzdev and then Stybar jump clear to try their luck in the last round, but they are gobbled up.
Still 167 riders in the peloton, which means 22 riders will not arrive in Paris. Some big names will be absent on the Champs-Élysées. Valverde, Sagan, Gesink, Porte, Cavendish, Thomas, Kittel, Izagirre, Démare, Majka, Gilbert, Wellens – they all abandoned.
