Tour de France 2014 Route stage 7: Épernay - Nancy
Just south of yesterday’s finish town, Reims, is the other well know champagne town: Épernay. It's a long stage, 234,5 kilometres in total with some rolling terrain. Expect a bunch sprint into Nancy. (Slideshow route/profile)
Usually stages starting in Épernay end in a bunch sprint. Despite some rolling terrain, today should have the same outcome. Cavendish won a stage that started here in 2010 while Sagan took the sprint in 2012.
Nancy has only been an arrival town twice in the Tour. The same man won on both occasions, the brilliant Italian Fausto Coppi in 1949 and 1952.
