Tour de France 2014: Stage 19 - Nasty hill in the finale

Bergeracfoto: Cor VosFriday, July 25th, 2014 - The 19th stage sees riders travel 208.5 kilometres from Maubourguet to Bergerac. They leave the mountains behind and the polka dot jersey is almost certainly firmly around the shoulders of the Mountain King. There are some points on offer today but only on one climb. (Slideshow route/profile)

The start is in Maubourguet Pays du Val d’Adour. We are still in the Hautes Pyrénées region, which means that the roads are not completely flat, but is never particularly high or steep. The road undulates until halfway through the ride when the riders enter the Garonne region. Here it is pretty flat and the riders will face more problems from the wind then from than gradients.

After 180 kilometres, the bunch arrives in the Dordogne and here we have the only serious obstacle of the day: the Côte de Monbazillac, A 1.3 kilometre climb with a gradient of 7.6%.

From the top it is only 13 kilometers to the finish in Bergerac. Could an attack get away? Maybe Sagan knows the answer….
