Race report
Hänninen, Gugliemi, Politt, Bernard and Rosskopf join forces in the early stages of the race. The five carve out a gap of 4 minutes.
Jumbo-Visma ups the pace with 30 kilometres remaining, bringing the peloton down to eight riders, while the lead group is caught. Dumoulin drops back after a strong effort, while Froome and Thomas have been dropped.
The strongest climbers in the race are Kruijswijk, Bennett, Roglic, Mollema, Bernal and Quintana, while Castroviejo and Conti make it back to the lead group in the descent.
Kruijswijk solo goes alone with 12 kilometres to go. Castroviejo leads the chase for his team mate Bernal before he runs out of energy inside the last 8 kilometres.
It comes back together and Jumbo-Visma keeps setting the pace on the remainder of the finish climb before Roglic finishes it off with a blistering uphill sprint. Bernal finish in second and Conti in third, which is also the situation in the GC.
