Tirreno-Adriatico 2025 Route stage 5: Ascoli Piceno - Pergola

Tirreno-Adriatico 2025

Slideshow 1/7
Friday, 14 March – The 5th stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico is a relentless up-and-down affair. The climbs are never particularly long, but there are plenty of them. Over the 205 kilometres between Ascoli Piceno and Pergola, the riders rack up nearly 3,500 metres of elevation gain, before the race wraps up with a descent to the finish.

Right from the start, the road rises gently towards the first proper climb. At 7.8 kilometres with an average gradient of 4.5%, the Croce di Casale is the longest ascent of the day.

And that sets the tone. The riders spend the entire stage hopping from one climb to the next. There are too many to list, but a few stand out: the climbs to Rustici (2.2 kilometres at 5.5%), just before San Severino Marche (3 kilometres at 5.4%), just before Castel San Pietro (4.1 kilometres at 5.3%), and to Santa Marciana (4.4 kilometres at 6.1%). Then there’s the Monte della Serra (6.1 kilometres at 4.5%) and Monte Santa Croce (7.4 kilometres at 5%) in the final 20 kilometres.

The Monte Santa Croce is a wildly irregular climb, with the second half being by far the hardest. The steepest section ramps up to 16%.

The summit of Monte della Serra comes 7.5 kilometres before the finish in Pergola. The final section starts with a descent, followed by a gentle rise towards the line. Just after the flamme rouge, there is a short but sharp uphill kicker at 10%.

The first three riders across the line gain 10, 6, and 4 bonus seconds, while 3, 2, and 1 seconds are up for grabs at the intermediate sprint.
