Race report
Lorenzo Conforti and KOM leader Davide Bais launch an attack straight after the start, and they open up a 6-minute gap.

Conforti wins the KOM sprint on the Passo del Lume Spento.

The attackers are caught well before the second climb of the day, La Foce. At the summit, it’s again Conforti who takes the most KOM points, while Jonathan Milan claims the intermediate sprint in Castel del Piano. A little later, Dries De Bondt and Andrea Pietrobon break away from the peloton, and the duo opens up a gap of over 3 minutes.

Jonathan hits the deck at the foot of the Valico di Colfiorito, when the gap is down to under 3 minutes.

Ben Healy jumps away from the peloton inside the final 10 kilometres and he catches the last attacker, Pietrobon. Romain Grégoire tracks the Irishman down, before Mathieu van der Poel and Laurens De Plus bridge across. More riders rejoin them.

After the climb, with 3 kilometres to go, GC leader Filippo Ganna breaks away. Mathieu van der Poel closes the gap, and after some more skirmishes, it comes down to a sprint. Andrea Vendrame takes the spoils, ahead of Tim Pidcock and Romain Grégoire.

Ganna comes home in tenth to retain the lead in the general classification.
