Follonica hosted its last Tirreno-Adriatico stage finish in 2018. The race came down to a bunch, and Marcel Kittel took the flowers ahead of Peter Sagan and Giacomo Nizzolo. The riders also came from Camaiore that day. Although the route was slightly different, the terrain was similar – predominantly flat.
Yes, there are intermediate climbs but since they are less than 5 kilometres and the gradients never exceed 5% no sprinter will be worried. The race concludes with a local lap of 21.4 kilometres long, featuring a 1.3 kilometres hill at 6% with 10 kilometres remaining.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
