Tirreno-Adriatico 2023 Route stage 1: ITT Lido di Camaiore
Monday 6 March - The Tirreno-Adriatico opens with an individual time trial of 11.5 kilometres. The flat course runs up and down the Tyrrhenian Sea shore.
The riders roll down the start ramp in Lido di Camaiore to storm in northerly direction to Marina di Pietrasanta. The turning point lies at kilometre 5 and the riders along the same straight road that they came.
The intermediate time check is also taken at kilometre 5.
The route is a copy of last year’s opening ITT, but 2.4 kilometres shorter, which was won by Filippo Ganna. Remco Evenepoel finished in second, Tadej Pogacar in third – respectively 11 and 18 seconds behind.
Until 2021 the Tirreno concluded with an ITT on a similar course in San Benedetto del Tronto. Recent winners on that course were Wout van Aert (2021), Filippo Ganna (2020), Victor Campenaerts (2019), and Rohan Dennis (2018, 2017).
