Race report
Davide Bais, Benoît Cosnefroy , Marco Haller and Alexander Konychev jump clear after roughly 20 kilometres, while Alex Aranburu, Julian Alaphilippe, Lluís Mas, KOM leader Quinn Simmons and Mikkel Honoré bridge across later. The nine carve out a maximum lead of almost 5 minutes.

Simmons is the only remaining attacker in the first ascent of the Monte Carpegna, while Evenepoel and Geoghegan Hart can’t follow the pace in the main group.

Simmons seals his KOM victory at the summit, 30 seconds ahead of the main group. Evenepoel is 1 minute further down.

The peloton tackles the Monte Carpegna for the second time with UAE Emirates and Bahrain Victorious on the attack. Miguel Ángel López and Wilco Kelderman are not longer on board. Landa accelerates and Pogacar, Vingegaard and Mas are the only riders in his wheel.

Pogacar takes over, while Porte makes it back to the three chasers. The Slovene reaches the summit with a lead of 1.30 minutes.

Pogacar reaches the summit 1.30 minutes ahead of the four. Mas hits the deck on descent, while Landa and Vingegaard distance Porte.

The Slovene further extends his GC-lead with his second stage win in three days. Vingegaard and Landa finish in second and third, which is also their position on GC.
