Tirreno-Adriatico 2016 Route stage 6: Castelraimondo – Cepagatti
Monday, March 14, 2016 – At 210 kilometres, stage 6 of the Tirreno-Adriatico leads from Castelraimondo to Cepagatti. The race is to be decided upon after two hilly laps on a local circuit. As the arrival is slightly uphill a power sprint by the likes of Sagan or Mattews could do the trick. Once again, a promising finish in the Tirreno-Adriatico.
Last year, departure place Castelraimondo saw the finish of a tough hilly stage with Wout Poels heading for glory.
The Dutch climber can forget about his chances today. On flat roads the pack races to the Adriatic coast and then along the coast line towards Pescara. Just before reaching the harbour town the riders turn right for an inland spin. Two 10 kilometres laps on a local circuit of rolling roads are to conclude the race.
The arrival is tailor made for the likes of Peter Sagan. Following a short climb with 5 kilometres left the rest of the race is a false flat leading right up to the finish line.
At the line, time bonuses at 10, 6 and 4 seconds lay waiting, while two intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each.
