Edition 71 of the Ruta del Sol starts on Wednesday, 19 February and is set to finish on Sunday, the 23th. The five-day stage race is held in Andalucia, hence its other name Vuelta a Andalucía. The Ruta del Sol typically takes in a mix of hilly and mountain stages alongside an occasional sprint finish and time trial.
Due to farmer’s protests, last year’s edition was shortened to an ITT of 5 kilometres. Maxim Van Gils took the spoils and he won the GC.
