Paris-Nice 2023 Route stage 3: Dampierre-en-Burly - TTT
Tuesday 7 March - The time trial on Paris-Nice is 32.2 kilometres. It's a team effort with hardly any vertical gain. The last TTT in the Race to the Sun took place 30 years ago.
The route is very straightforward. After leaving the start ramp the team head east to turn left after 7 kilometres. Some 10 kilometres later, in Montereau, the next curve also goes to the left. The roads are flat and straight and stay like that until the next corner. Another lefthander, this time in Ozouer-sur-Loire. The last 3 kilometres are… flat and straight.
Seems fairly straightforward, but there is a catch. The TTT is contested in a new format, as the times are individually, instead of the traditional format in which riders are given the time set by the fourth rider in the squad to cross the line.
The time check is situated in Montereau, at kilometre 16.7.
Last year’s time trial was an individual effort with one team shining. Jumbo Visma’s riders Wout van Aert, Primoz Roglic and Rohan Dennis finished in first, second and third position. A yellow-black clean sweep.
