Saramotins and Delaplace led for most of today’s stage but a sprint was always the likely outcome with the young Dutchman Moreno Hofland outsprinting John Degenkolb in a crash ridden finale. The Belkin rider held the big Germans wheel and kicked past with 200 metres left to race.
Yesterday’s stage winner Nacer Bouhanni finished third and retains the leaders jersey ahead of Degenkolb who must be frustrated with 2nd place in both stages and the GC.
